In preparation for their upcoming release of their long-awaited album “The Front Lines of Good Times Vol I”, U.S. power-rockers MF RUCKUS are releasing three previously unheard tracks, one per month leading up to the big release party celebration in their home town of Denver, Colorado. The first of these singles is a thrashing, heavy metal instant classic inspired by bassist Logan O’Connor’s love for Dungeons & Dragons. While the song’s title “Insect Swarm” is something of a misnomer (the actual name of the spell which inspired the song is “Insect Plague”) the band hopes that D & D purists will forgive the creative license.

On the writing process, lead singer Aaron Howell said, “We literally sat down on Logan’s back porch with a bunch of Logan’s D & D books, looking up different spells and character descriptions for lyrical content. At one point, we even considered building a character from scratch just for the sake of authenticity.”

The lyrics, nestled in a bed of classic metal-inspired riffs, are presented from the perspective of a Druid Dark Mage who has been awoken by a party of adventurers who have unwittingly stumbled into his keep. The crabby wizard then proceeds to unleash an onslaught of malevolent magic including “Fire Ants, Scarabs, Killer Bees…Blooderflies in a god damn swarm!”
